McElroy Young Adult Psychiatry Lecture
Support the expenses of hosting an annual lecture with a visiting psychiatry lecturer who focuses on mental healthcare needs, related to young adults and college-aged students. Additional Criteria: Preference for a topic that is approved for continuing mental education credit.
Ross A. McElroy M.D. joined the Department of Psychiatry in 1985 as a dedicated educator, specializing in psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapy training for residents and medical students. His commitment and ability led to multiple Teacher of the Year Awards and Departmental roles as Training Director and Director of the Outpatient Clinic. After more than three decades of service, Dr. McElroy retired from the Department in 2016.
Linda Provus McElroy, Ph.D. has served as a Clinical Supervisor of Psychotherapy in the Department for more than twenty-five years. Since 1987 she has maintained a private practice in Gainesville, with a focus on the mental health of young adults.
Dr. McElroy shares her husband’s dedication to the art and science of compassionate, ethical psychotherapy.
