Kent A. Batchelder School Counselor Endowed Scholarship
Support graduate students in school counseling who demonstrate financial need. First preference shall be given to students from Vermont, Massachusetts, Florida, or Connecticut, and then preference shall be given to students planning to intern or work as middle school counselors.
Established by Angelique K. Xenick (BS ’92, EDS ’95, MED ’95) and Dayna DeConza in memory of Kent Allen Batchelder to support graduate students in school counseling who demonstrate financial need. Preference given to students from VT, MA, CT, and Tarpon Springs, FL. Preference also given to students planning to intern/work as middle school counselors.
Kent Batchelder was born in Berlin, VT, on April 11, 1970, and grew up in nearby Barre Town. After graduating from the University of Vermont, he received a graduate degree in counseling from the University of Florida, where he became an avid Gator fan, closely following the football and basketball teams. After several years of employment in Florida schools, Kent moved to Sturbridge, MA. At the time of his passing, he was a counselor at Vernon Center Middle School, a position he had held for twelve years.
