Peter W. Orobello, MD Scholarship Fund
Support scholarships to deserving UF College of Medicine students who exhibit the characteristics that Dr. Orobello embodied. To be assessed by a committee of faculty appointed by the Sr. Assoc. Dean for Educational Affairs: criteria for selection includes; integrity, moral character, work ethic, compassionate spirit, financial need, be from greater Tampa Bay area. Scholarship is renewable for all four years of medical school.
Peter Orobello, MD
Peter Orobello, MD was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to St. Petersburg in 1989, to spearhead the Pediatric Otolaryngology Department at All Children’s Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine. Dr. Orobello dedicated his life to his family and his patients and was respected by everyone who knew him.
Peter W. Orobello, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Johns Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. He received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed his fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Orobello was a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, the Society of Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children, the Florida State Medical Society, the Florida Academy of Pediatrics and the Pinellas County Medical Society. The American College of Surgeons and the Florida Society of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Orobello’s specialty areas included cochlear implantation, sinus and ear related problems as well as airway reconstruction. Dr. Orobello enjoyed spending time with his 5-children, running marathons and boating.
Dr. Orobello, was a Pediatric Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon) with Pediatric Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists in St. Petersburg. He was in private practice in the area for more than 25 years. Over the years, he has helped thousands of kids. As one parent shared, “My son heard his first bird chirping because of Dr. Orobello. I will never forget that day.”
Dr. Orobello and his wife Jill Orobello had six children: Peter Orobello (Dec. 2000), Katy Orobello, Ryan Orobello Karempelis, Nicklas Orobello, Tayler Orobello, and Morgan Orobello.
Their son Nicklas is currently a third year medical student at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
