This fund was established in 2014 by the estate of Robert Axline to support a professorship in the Department of Surgery in the College of Medicine.

Mr. Axline, a philanthropist and former executive, was born in Chester, IL. on May 4, 1907 and spent most of his life in the St. Louis, M.O. area. He earned a degree in engineering from Purdue University and joined the Brown Shoe Company as an engineer in the early 1950s. Mr. Axline also served as the first vice president of Brown Shoe Company, eventually retiring in the late 1970s. He moved to Florida in 1987.

Mr. Axline passed away on May 3, 1994 at age 86. He contributed to St. Louis University and made many major contributions to the University of Florida in honor of his wife, Kathleen Cotter Axline, who passed away in 1990 at age 76.
