Established in 2013 by Terry and Dorothy Smiljanich to support the Department of Astronomy and the Creative Writing Program in the Department of English.

Terry earned his bachelors degree and his juris doctor in law from the University of Florida in 1969 and 1972 respectively.

Dorothy earned a bachelors and a master degree from UF in 1969 and 1971.
