Larry and Pat Stewart

This fund was established in 2013 by Larry S. Stewart to support the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Larry earned a bachelor’s degree in 1960 and a law degree in 1963, both from the University of Florida. Larry is a partner of Miami-based Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain, P.A., which he co-founded in 1984. He has been a trial lawyer for over 50 years, and served as the first president and CEO of Trial Lawyers Care, Inc., the national pro bono program for victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Larry is an active member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. He served as its president from 1978 to 1979, and on the board of directors for 21 years. Larry has been active in The Florida Bar and is a former chair of its Trial Lawyers Section and formerly served on the Board of Governors of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is also active in a number of professional organizations. Larry served as president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America from 1994 to 1995. He was on the Association’s executive committee for six years and its board of governors for 11 years.

Larry is also an active member of the American Law Institute where he serves on the Council, the Institute’s governing body, as well as the Executive Committee and the Membership Committee. He has been and continues to serve as an Advisor or a consultant on all of the Institute’s tort law projects and related subjects. Larry also serves on the Board of the RAND Corporation’s Center for Catastrophic Risk Management and Compensation. Previously he served for 10 years on the Board of RAND’s Civil Justice Institute. Larry was also appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to its Civil Standard Jury Instruction Committee where he led the 2010 rewrite and revision of the civil jury instructions. Larry is the author of numerous legal articles and the recipient of many professional awards.
