This fund was established in 2013 by Curtis Walters and a group of donors to memorialize Hugh Walters and to support an award for a surgical resident who embodies the qualities of the compassionate care and selfless dedication to excellence.
Hugh earned his degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2004. He was accepted into the prestigious medical research program sponsored by the Howard Hughes Research Institute at the National Institute of Health. His life-long ambition was to be a trauma surgeon in an academic setting.
Hugh passed away in 2008.
