Haber Family Florida Opportunity Scholars Endowment
The spendable income from the Fund shall be used to support students chosen to receive a scholarship through the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program. First preference shall be given to students who are graduates of Miami Beach High School and second preference shall be given to students from the Miami Dade region. If the program ceases to exist at the University, then spendable income shall be used to support scholarship awards to first generation Florida students with low family incomes with the same preferences.
This fund was established in 2013 by David B. Haber to support students in the University of Florida Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1981 and a juris doctorate in 1984, both from the University of Florida. Founder of David B. Haber, P.A., David has litigated commercial disputes throughout South Florida for nearly 30 years.
David serves on the Citizen Transportation Advisory Committee for Miami-Dade County and the Board of Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation. He also provides significant pro bono hours. David received a pro bono award from the Dade County Voluntary Bar Association in 1992 and the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award, 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in 199
