Dr. Dale Lundgren Air Resources Scholarship
GA: Support scholarship/fellowship awards to undergraduate or master students working in the area of air pollution, with 1st preference to students in Environmental Eng., 2nd preference to students in other departments in the College of Eng., and 3rd preference to any other University degree-seeking student who is involved in air pollution research. Donors desire that, to the extent possible, annual awards of $5,000 each be made to two (2) such students, with additional awards to be made at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Michael D. Durham
Michael D. Durham established this fund in 2012 to support scholarship and fellowship awards to undergraduate or Master’s students working on research in the areas of air pollution at the University of Florida in honor of environmental engineering sciences professor Dale Lundgren’s work in air resources.
Michael received a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and Executive MBA from the University of Denver. He also earned a master’s degree in 1975, and a doctoral degree in 1978, both in environmental engineering, from the University of Florida.
Michael is currently the President and CEO of Advanced Emissions Solutions (NASDAQ: ADES) a Highlands Ranch, CO company that he founded in 1996 to commercialize environmental technologies. ADES is a spinoff from ADA Technologies, Inc. which he founded in 1985. He was also the founder and current Board Member of Clean Coal Solutions, a joint venture with NexGen Resources and Goldman Sachs. He was also the founder of ADA Carbon Solutions, LLC in 2009, one of the largest producers of activated carbon in the world.
Michael is a Director and current President of the Institute of Clean Air Companies (ICAC) and a member of the National Coal Council appointed by the Bush and Obama administrations.
Michael’s wife Janette earned an Executive MBA from the University of Denver and a medical degree from the University of Indiana followed with a fellowship from Harvard. She is a full professor in interventional radiologist at the University of Colorado and former President of the Society of Interventional Radiolog
