John H. and Mary Lou Dasburg Chair in Engineering

Fund Purpose
GA: Support a chair in the College, such support to include, but not limited to, income supplements, teaching or research support, or other faculty enrichment activities (including, for example, professional travel, appointment of research assistants, and book acquisitions). In no event may income from this fund be used to support more than one professor. This chair is indivisible. (See G/A for details)

John H. and Mary Lou Dasburg

John H. and Mary Lou Dasburg established this fund in 2013 in response to the University’s Preeminence Initiative. The fund will support the hiring of a faculty member whose research and teaching endeavors address prime focus areas in engineering and technology.

A University of Florida graduate, John Dasburg earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1966, a master’s of business administration degree in 1970, and his juris doctorate in 1973. He is currently the Chairman, CEO, President and Co-owner of Astar Air Cargo, Inc. During his career, he has held leadership roles at KPMG, Marriott Corporation, Northwest Airlines and Burger King.

Mary Lou Dasburg is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, the University of North Florida, and the University of Florida College of Law. She is active in her community and has served on the board of organizations such as The Blake School, the Children’s Theatre Company, and the College of St. Catherine.
