University of Florida Past Student Body President’s FOS Endowment

This fund was established in 2013 by Laura J. Ensley-Stanton, Brian D. Burgoon and Brent A. Gordon, a group of former University of Florida student body presidents, to support students in the Florida Opportunity Scholarship Program at the University of Florida

Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science from the University of Florida in 1986 and a degree from the University of Miami in 1990. She served her peers as student body president from 1984 to 1985 and became part of the UF Hall of Fame in 1985. Laura was a member of Florida Blue Key. She worked as an orthopedic surgeon at Florida Orthopedic Specialists in Port St. Lucie, FL.

Brian earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and a juris doctorate from the University of Florida in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He served as student body president beginning in 1993. Brian was added to the UF Hall of Fame in 1994. From 1997 to 2007, he worked at Sutherland, Asbill and Brennan LLP in their Atlanta, GA offices. In 2007, Brian established the Burgoon Law Firm LLC. His firm is involved with both business and civil litigation.

Brent earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education, and a juris doctorate from the University of Florida in 1997, 2000 and 2004, respectively. In 1997, he was inducted into the UF Hall of Fame. He served as student body president from 1999 to 2000. Brent worked at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus and Wein, P.A. before starting the Gordon Law Firm, P.A. in 2011. The firm focuses on business law, commercial law, construction law, intellectual property, licensing/administrative law and university/school disciplinary matter
