Sung and Yvonne Lu Outstanding Senior Award and Graduate Fellowship Fund
Sung and Yvonne Lu established this fund in 2012 to support an award in mechanical or aerospace engineering in recognition of academic excellence, scholarship outside the classroom such as research, leadership in field, presenting an academic paper at a conference, and citizenship within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. This fund also supports graduate fellowships for students enrolled in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Sung received a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UF in 1955, and a doctorate in engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1959. He is a professor emeritus in the College of Engineering.
Sung and Yvonne were long time residents of Gainesville. Their son Jimmy was a UF College of Education’s PK Yonge Laboratory School graduate.
