Lastinger Family Florida Opportunity Scholarship
Fund Purpose
The spendable income from the Fund shall be used to support the Bernie and Chris Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarships for students at the University. If the program ceases to exist at the University, then the spendable income shall be used to support scholarship awards to first generation Florida students with low family incomes.

This fund was established in 2012 by Allen L. Lastinger, Jr. and Delores T. Lastinger and the Lastinger Family Foundation to support Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarships for students at the University of Florida.
Allen graduated from P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School in 1960 and earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1965 and 1971, respectively.
Delores earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Florida in 1965. After graduating from UF, she earned a master’s degree in education administration and supervision from the University of North Florid
