Angelos C. Langadas Endowment for General Support of Greek Studies

This fund was established in 2012 by the estate of Angelos C. Langadas to support the University of Florida Center for Greek Studies.
Angelos was born in Athens, Greece in 1917. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering in 1938 and served in the Greek Air Force. During WWII, Angelos served in the Greek and U.S. Merchant Marine. After his discharge from the military, Angelos worked as an engineer for the New York City steamship company, South Star Shipping. He retired in 1980 as a superintendent engineer and the vice president of the company.
Angelos founded academic scholarship programs at many universities, including the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University. He was a torchbearer in the 1996 Olympic Games.
Angelos passed away in 2012.
