History
Established to honor the legacy of Dr. Kathleen Ann Long, fourth dean of the UF College of Nursing. Throughout Dean Long’s tenure, she always kept the best interest of nursing students as a top priority. In the fall of 2012, prior to her pending 2013 retirement after serving as Dean for 18 years, the Thomas & Irene Kirbo Charitable Trust made a lead gift of $50,000 to endow the Kathleen Ann Long Student Support Fund. The Trust wanted Dean Long to designate the purpose of the fund, and she chose that it provide support for students in any of the College’s degree programs.
