Swenson Fellows Fund

Fund Purpose
GA: Support fellows to take advantage of training/conference opportunities in support of their clinical/research training and career advancement; unique activities that include but are not limited to, funding for participation in special advanced courses and mini-sabbaticals in outstanding laboratories considered catalytic to research fellow's career, will be given priority consideration. This fund was established in 2012 by Erik and Cornelia Swenson to support fellows in taking advantage of training/conference opportunities in support of their clinical/research training and career advancement.

The fund honors Erik’s father, Edward W. Swenson. Edward earned a medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1950. He founded the University of Florida Pulmonary Division in 1964 and served as chief of the division until 1974. Edward passed away in 2007.

Eirk earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemical sciences from Princeton University in 1974 and a medical degree from the University of California in 1979. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of California in 1983, a fellowship in pharmacology at the University of Florida in 1980, a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Washington in 1985, and a fellowship in respiratory medicine at the University of London in 1987.
