Dr. Richard Wayne Cunningham Fund
GA: Support the UF Department of Medicine Division of Palliative Care and its programs.
This fund was established in 2012 by Hjalma Johnson to support the University of Florida Department of Medicine Division of Palliative Care in honor of Richard W. Cunningham.
Hjalma earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Florida in 1958 and a juris doctorate from the Birmingham School of Law in 1965.
Hjalma is a member of the UF Engineering Campaign Council, the UF Campaign Leadership Gifts Council, the UF Gator Boosters Board of Directors and the UF Foundation Board of Directors. He is also a Bull Gator. Hjalma received the University of Florida Distinguished Alumnus Entrepreneur of the Year Award for lifetime achievement in 2007.
Richard graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in science from UF in 1958. After serving with the United States navy during the Korean conflict he returned to UF to earn is his medical degree in 1962.
