Kay F. Walker Scholarship in Occupational Therapy
This fund was established by 2012 Frank E. Gainer, III to support scholarship awards to students studying in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Florida.
Frank earned a master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Florida in 1984.
Kay is professor emeritus of the Department of Occupational Therapy in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. She earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in 1964, a master’s degree in education in 1970, and a doctorate in special education in 1990, all from the University of Florida.
Kay had a long career in academia, developing and teaching courses in pediatrics, anatomy, neuroscience, and OT theory. She served as the Department of Occupational Therapy chairperson for 16 years and has served as program director of the internet-based Distance Learning Master’s Program, and as the contract manager for clinical services for individuals with disabilities in two schools and a residential facilit
