Richard H. Simons
This fund was established in 2012 to honor the memory of Richard H. Simons and support a Book Award in Taxation of Gratuitous Transfers at the Fredric G. Levin College of Law.
Simons was a well respected property and casualty insurance executive and the founder of Simons and Rose Insurance Agency, Inc. in Miami, which is now part of Wells Fargo.
He was intellectually curious and had a great interest in law, business, and the environment, especially the tropical rainforest. The Rainforest at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables and the Organizational for Tropical Studies Building at the University of Costa Rica in San Jose bear his name.
He died in 1995, but accomplished much in his 62 years.
