This fund was established in 2012 by a group of donors to support students pursuing an interest in healthcare finance in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida.
Louis C. Gapenski earned a master’s and a doctorate degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1981 and 1987, respectively. He joined the UF faculty in 1988. Louis was a leading expert in the field of health care finance, he authored several best-selling textbooks. Louis received the College of Public Health and Health Professions Teacher of the Year award ten times before retiring in 2001.
Louis passed away in 2016.
