Rush Family Scholarship

Fund Purpose
GA: To support scholarships to medical students with financial need. Preference should be given to students who demonstrate an intent to practice rural or primary care.

This fund was established in 2011 by Joseph M. Rush to support scholarships to University of Florida medical students with financial need who plan to practice in rural or family care.

Dr. Rush earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1977 and a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering in 1979, both from the University of Florida. He also earned a medical degree from the University of Miami in 1986. Joseph joined the UF College of Medicine faculty in 1992, and is currently assisting part-time with UF Health’s transition to the Epic electronic medical records system. Dr. Rush is also the co-founder of UpToDate, Inc., a medical information company that he worked for from 1996 to 2008. He is a member of the UF Alumni Associatio
