GA: support Florida Opportunity Scholarships; if the FOS program ceases to exist at the University then the spendable income shall be used to support scholarship awards to first generation Florida students from family with low income.
This fund was established in 2011 by S. Andrew Banks to support the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program at the University of Florida.
Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Florida in 1976. He is the co-founder and chairman of ABRY Partners, an equity investment firm focused on media, communications and business. Andrew is also the founder and president of Paradigm Consulting, Ltd., which directs philanthropic contributions to charitable organizations.
Andrew has a long history with UF, and has been an enthusiastic volunteer since the 1980s. He chairs the University of Florida Investment Corporation and is a life member of the UF Alumni Associatio
