Estate: To establish and maintain an endowed Elizabeth H. Faulk Professorship in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology which will be awarded to the residing Chair of the Department.
This fund was established in 2011 by the estate of Elizabeth Faulk to establish and maintain an endowed Professorship in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida.
Elizabeth was born in 1925 in Jacksonville, FL. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College in 1947, and a master’s degree and doctorate in psychology from the University of Florida in 1950 and 1955, respectively. Elizabeth was the first woman to receive a doctorate in psychology from UF. She completed additional graduate work at Columbia University.
Elizabeth began her practice in Boca Raton, FL in 1970. That same year, she founded the Elizabeth H. Faulk Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation, to provide free and low-cost psychological and mental health consultation services. In 1973, Elizabeth established the Center for Group Counseling, the service arm of the Foundation, to ensure that no one would be denied services because of an inability to pay.
Elizabeth passed away in 1995. In 2013, the Center celebrated its 40-year anniversary, and was renamed the Faulk Center for Counseling. The Center provides counseling, therapy, and support to more than 1,000 clients each year.
