Peter Indelicato, M.D. Endowed Professorship in Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine

Fund Purpose
GA: Support a professorship in orthopaedic and sports medicine; professor's research and salary as well as provide resources for program development that enable educators to pursue projects at the forefront of orthopaedics and sports medicine.

The Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute established this fund in 2011 to support a professorship in orthopedic and sports medicine to enable educators to pursue projects at the forefront of orthopedics and sports medicine at the University of Florida in honor of Peter Indelicato, M.D.

Peter earned a medical degree from New York Medical College in 1969. He completed his residency at New York University, and then spent two years in the U.S. Navy as a staff orthopedic surgeon. After completing his naval service, Peter served as a sports medicine fellow at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. He cared for members for the Los Angeles Rams, Lakers, Dodgers and Kings. Peter was the associate team physician for the Miami Dolphins from 1988 to 1996.

Peter is a former Wayne Huizenga professor and former chief of sports medicine for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at UF. In 2011, Peter retired as the head team physician for the UF Athletic Association, a position he had held since 1977.
