Support awards to students in physics for academic achievement in research and/or teaching.
This fund was established in 2011 by a group of donors to support awards to students studying in the Department of Physics academic achievement in research and/or teaching in memory of Charles “Chuck” F. Hooper Jr.
Chuck earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in 1954. He served in the Navy for two years before attending graduate school at Johns Hopkins University. He received a doctorate in 1963, and was appointed as assistant professor at UF. Chuck worked in the UF Department of Physics for 39 years.
