David R. and Sue Ballard Osier Health Science Publications Endowment

This fund was stablished by Mary Susan “Sue” Ballard Osier in 2010 to support publications in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida.

Sue earned a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences from the University of Florida in 1964. While at UF, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida in 1970. While at UF, he was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. David started his career in journalism as editor of The Alligator newspaper during his senior year at UF.

He has worked for the Gainesville Sun, Palm Beach Post and Fort Myers News-Press. He was an editor and publisher of the Georgia Journal until 2001. David was a copy editor for CNN.com until 2007. He also was a former member of UF’s College of Journalism advisory board.

David passed away in 2007.
