Fund Purpose
Support one or more professorships; must be qualified to teach undergraduate classes in English Literature, Composition, Comparative Literature, Classics, Philosophy, History or European Languages. Awards are not intended to support research or production by the recipient. Awards should be given only to teachers who arouse the enthusiasm on the part of the student for the subjects being taught. Waldo W. Neikirk
This fund honors Waldo W. Neikirk, a native of Ohio who grew up in Lakeland. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida, earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1937. After receiving his master’s of business administration from Harvard University in 1938, Neikirk held CFO and other financial positions with several companies, the last being Northrop Corporation. Mr. Neikirk passed away on April 13, 2010.
