Kathy and Lee Clinefelter Patient Care Quality and Access Endowment

Fund Purpose
GA: support the Dorothy M. Smith Endowed Chair and/or the activities of the BC/BS Center for Health Care Access, Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes at UF and/or in support of teaching, research and programs associated with patient care at the Archer Family Health Care Practice.

Kathy Clinefelter

This fund was established in 2010 by Kathy and Lee Clinefelter to support the Dorothy M. Smith Chair and/or the activities of the Florida Blue Center for Health Care Access, Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes at the University of Florida and/or in support of teaching, research and programs associated with patient care at the University of Florida Archer Family Health Care Practice.

Kathy earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nursing in 1972 and 1979, respectively, and a master’s degree in business administration in 1995, all from the University of Florida. She retired as the assistant director of research at the UF Institute for Child Health Policy in 2011, where she served as co-director of the Texas External Quality Review Organization. She also worked at Shands Teaching Hospital in clinical and healthcare quality roles, including Director of Quality and Utilization Review. When she left Shands she launched Innovation in Healthcare Quality and provided consulting and contract services in that business from 1995 to 2012.

Kathy is a lifetime member of the UF Alumni Association. She is a member and past president of the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

Kathy’s son, Terry earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida in 2009.
