Maxwell and Doris King Annual Scholarship
Support scholarship wards to distance education students seeking a degree in the Leadership Educational Administration Doctorate (LEAD) in Higher Education Administration; based on scholastic merit.
The Maxwell and Doris King Annual Scholarship supports distance education students seeking a degree in the Higher Education Administration Ed.D. program (Higher Ed LEAD), based on scholastic merit. This program prepares future leaders for roles in administrative positions in higher education institutions and postsecondary focused non-profit organizations. Graduates are prepared for careers and advancement as leaders within higher education as community college and university administrators, deans, presidents, and professors.
About Dr. Maxwell C. King
Dr. Maxwell C. King, was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the UF College of Education in May 1996. After earning a Master of Science in Education and a Doctor of Education degree from UF, King began his career in education as a teacher at St. Lucie County High School and soon advanced to the position of principal of Dan McCarty High School. At 32, he became a college president, leading Indian River Community College in 1960. In 1968, he became the third president of Brevard Community College and served as district president for 30 years. In 1989, Florida’s Governor and Cabinet honored King for being recognized as America’s top administrator in higher education by the American Association of University Administrators.
