History
This fund was established in 2009 by the Helene Fuld Health Trust to support scholarships to students enrolled in the accelerated baccalaureate nursing program at the University of Florida College of Nursing.
The Helene Fuld Health Trust is the nation’s largest private funder devoted exclusively to nursing students and nursing education.
In 1935, Leonhard Felix Fuld and his sister, Florentine, created a foundation in honor of their mother, Helene Fuld, who died in 1923. Helene was interested in health issues, and the foundation was originally dedicated to help those suffering from illness. In 1961, Leonhard limited the foundation’s scope to focus on improving the health and welfare of student nurses.
