MSC Patriot Award

Purpose

Support scholarship to undergraduate students with an affiliation to any branch of the United States of America’s military (to include active duty, reserve, veteran, retiree, and family members of any of these categories).

History

UF nursing alumni Neil McFarlane, who received his bachelor’s in 1994 and master’s in 1999, and Erik Cline, who received his bachelor’s in 1994, established a joint gift to provide financial assistance to UF nursing students. As military veterans, they decided the award would be given to a student with military affiliation either through family, service, or a strong affirmation. This scholarship is awarded based heavily on the student’s written statement.
