Vivian G. Nolan Graduate Fellowship in Latin American Studies

This fund was established in 2009 by Charles and Wanda Denny in memory of Wanda’s mother, Vivian Nolan, to support graduate fellowships for students studying indigenous peoples and cultures at the Center for Latin American Studies.

Vivian was an administrative assistant at the UF Center for Latin American Studies from the early 1960s to the 1980s. She passed away in 2004.

Charles earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1957. While at UF, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and president of the La Apache Social Club.

Charles was president of C.H. Denny Corporation and the former owner of Denny Concrete Company. In 1999, he was named Distinguished Builder of the Year by the UF School of Business Construction. In 2000, Charles was inducted into the BCN Construction Hall of Fame.

Charles passed away in 2013.

Wanda earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1969, a master’s degree in education in 1972, a master’s degree in business administration in 1983, and a doctorate in philosophy in 1983, all from the University of Florida. While at UF, she became active in Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Beta Alpha Psi Honors Societies and graduated Phi Kappa Phi.
