Nancy V. Perry Endowment for Teaching Excellence

This fund was established in 2008 by Nancy V. Perry to enhance high quality teaching in the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning. A faculty member from the M. E. Rinker, Sr., School of Construction Management will be awarded this endowment each year.

Nancy was born, raised and attended the College of Michigan. She had a marketing career with archery equipment manufacturer Bear Archery, and Gainesville independent senior living center the Atrium. Nancy is an active supporter of the Gainesville community. She has been involved with various community organizations, including the North Central Florida Foundation, the Women’s Giving Circle, the Builders Association of North Central Florida, the Florida Museum of Natural History at UF, the PACE Center for Girls and Haven Hospice.

Nancy is also an advocate for the building trades, and carries on her late husband, Charles’ legacy by supporting educational opportunities in construction. Charles “Chuck” passed away in 2005. He earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida in 1960. Chuck founded Perry Construction and PPI Construction Management, currently Charles Perry Partners, in 1968. The company’s portfolio consisted of over 300 projects in North and Central Florida, including former and current courthouses, the North Florida Regional Medical Center, and many buildings at UF (including Emerson Alumni Hall and the Ben Hill Griffin skybox expansion) and Santa Fe College.

The UF Charles R. and Nancy V. Perry Indoor Tennis Facility is named in the Perry’s honor. Nancy was named one of the 2010 Women of Distinction by Santa Fe College for her continued support of the Charles R. Perry Construction Institute at SFC’s Northwest campus, and the Nancy V. and Charles R. Perry Center for Emerging Technologies in Alachua, FL.
