Alfred Browning Parker Architecture Archives Library Endowment

This fund was established in 2008 by friends and family in honor of legendary South Florida architect Alfred Browning Parker to support the acquisition, preservation, processing and storage of archival drawings and other historical records that document architecture and architects.

Parker was born September 24, 1916 in Boston, MA, and his family moved to Miami in 1924. Parker knew he wanted to be an architect when he was a student at Citrus Grove Elementary School. Today, he is a renowned architect, his style influenced by architects Henry Hobson Richardson, Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Alfred Parker has been featured in several publications and received numerous awards. In 1939, he received a bachelor’s in design, construction and planning from the University of Florida. His major was architecture. Alfred and his wife, Euphrosyne, have a son, Robin. He is an Alfred Browning Parker Architecture employee and former UF employee. Parker served on the UF Foundation board of directors, is a member of Florida Blue Key and a brother of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He is known for designing numerous churches, theaters, schools and about 6,000 houses.

While teaching at UF, he instructed the “3-In-1” class, ARC6911, which was open to architecture graduate students. He was also the campaign committee chair for the College of Architecture.
