Dr. Cappy Archibald Longstreth/Alex and Mary Frances Archibald Geriatric Psychiatric Nursing Fund
GA(Amended): Support graduate level students studying in the area of geriatric psychiatric care and for academic program support related to geriatric psychiatric nursing at the College of Nursing. In the event there are no qualified recipients for the primary purpose (geriatric psychiatric care or academic program), funds can be awarded to a graduate level student interested in geriatrics and/or general psych mental health.

History
This fund was established in 2008 by Cappy Archibald Longstreth to support graduate students studying geriatric psychiatric care at the University of Florida College of Nursing. Cappy earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Florida State University in 1960, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling in 1963 and a doctorate in administration in 1973, both from the University of Miami.
Cappy is the daughter of Florida’s St. Petersburg General Hospital pioneer residents, Alex and Mary Frances Archibald. She was a physical education teacher in Dade County, FL, from 1960 to 1966, and an administrator with Collier County Schools until 1971. Cappy joined UF’s faculty in 1973 as an assistant professor. She served in a variety of positions, including special assistant to the president for faculty relations, director of faculty relations and associate vice president for the Office of Academic Affairs, before retiring from UF in 1999.
