Dr. Howard and Brenda Sheridan Fund in Chemistry

Brenda and Howard Sheridan

This fund was established in 2008 by Howard M. Sheridan, M.D. and Brenda Brannen Sheridan.

Dr. Sheridan earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1965 and graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1969. He completed his internship at San Francisco General Hospital and his radiology residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He moved to Fort Myers, FL in 1975 where he practiced radiology, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine until his retirement in 2004. He served as president of the medical staff of Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center and chairman of the Department of Radiology. After planning and developing the area’s first high energy linear accelerator radiation therapy center, he became a co-founder and served as chairman of the board of Radiation Therapy Services, Inc. Dr. Sheridan is also a founder of Edison National Bank in Fort Myers and serves as chairman of the board of Edison Bancorp.

Brenda Brannen Sheridan earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida in 1965. She began her career with one of the nation’s largest shipbuilders, Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans, where she served as Public Relations director. While working for the Bank of America World Headquarters in San Francisco, Ms. Sheridan helped launch a “Professional Management” series of publications for nationwide distribution. She was instrumental in developing and implementing a strategic advertising, public relations and media communications plan for the transition of a traditional Colorado women’s college to a modern coeducational institution. She continued to work in public relations in Fort Myers until her retirement. Always active and interested in various growth management and environmental issues in Florida, she has received along with her husband Florida Wildlife Federation’s “Water Conservationists of the Year” awar
