GA: support scholarship awards to senior level medical students pursuing careers in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

This fund was established in 2007 by Dr. Noel and Erica Maun in honor of Noel’s mother, Alicia Maun, M.D. The Mauns set up the fund to support scholarships for senior level medical students at the University of Florida College of Medicine who are pursuing careers in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

Dr. Alicia Maun spent over 30 years serving as a longtime UF physician, including many years in the role of Director of UF’s Student Health Services. Dr. Maun has four children, three of whom pursued careers in the healthcare field. She currently resides in Gainesville, FL.

Dr. Noel Maun is also a proud graduate of the UF College of Medicine where he earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in 1995. He then went to Yale School of Medicine to complete his residency and fellowship in hematology oncology. Dr. Maun and his wife, Erica, and their four sons live in Venice, FL where he practices medical oncology and hematology. Erica is also a UF graduate, having earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sport Sciences from the College of Health and Human Performance in 199
