This fund was established in 2007 by Russell V. and Phyllis Hughes in 2007 to support the Sam Proctor Oral History Program.
Russell Hughes was born on August 19, 1925 in Orlando, FL. He earned an associate’s degree from the University of Florida in 1948 and went on to serve in WWII.
Russell is the son of the late co-founder of Hughes Supply and the first cousin of David and Vincent Hughes, sons of co-founder, Harry Hughes. He served as vice president of the company before retiring.
