David A. Cofrin Endowed Chair in Endourology Fund
GA (amended): support a Chair in Endourology to be held by a professor who is a distinguished faculty member in the Dept of Urology at the College of Medicine.
This fund was established in 2007 by David A. Cofrin to support a Chair in Endourology to be held by a professor who is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Urology at the College of Medicine.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in 1945 and a medical degree in 1947, both from Cornell University. He received an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the University of Florida in 1993 and an Honorary Doctorate of Science from St. Norbert University in 2001. His father, Austin E. Cofrin, founded the Fort Howard Paper Company in 1919. David became a director of the company in 1974 after the death of his brother John, who had been CEO.
David and Mary Ann Cofrin have a long philanthropic history of supporting the arts, education and medicine. They provided the initial gift for the construction of the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art in honor of Mary Ann’s father.
David and Mary Ann have five children, Gladys, Edith, Paige, David and Mary Ann. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007.
