Leland and Virginia Sponholtz Family Fund for Cancer Research

Virginia and Leland Sponholtz

This fund was established by Leland and Virginia Sponholtz in 2007 to support cancer research at the College of Medicine.

Leland Sponholtz was born May 30, 1922. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1947 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Leland and Virginia had four children: Allen, Carol, Dennis and Warren. Virginia passed away February 15, 2009 at age 86. Leland passed away on May 9, 2010. He was 87.
