Alan Siegel, M.D. Resident and Fellows Endowment

This fund was established in 2007 in honor of Alan D. Siegel to support the chief resident in Internal Medicine by allowing the chief resident to fund extras for the housestaff. Siegel was born in 1953 in Milwaukee, WI. He earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1976. He did an internship, residency and pulmonary fellowship at UF from 1980-1986. He was a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at both the Shands Hospital and VA Medical Center in Gainesville. An avid Gator, Packer and Red Sox fan, Siegel practiced his specialty of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in Fort Myers from 1986-2004 as a partner in Associates in Pulmonary Medicine. He retired in April 2004 due to metastatic salivary gland cancer and passed away from the disease in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his sons, Daniel and Michael, and his daughter, Elizabeth.
