Marshall M. Criser Distinguished Lecture Series

Marshall M. Criser

This fund was established in 2007 by the Lewis Schott Foundation to support a lecture series known as the Marshall M. Criser Distinguished Lecture Series.

In 1984, Criser became University of Florida’s eighth president and the second Florida alumnus to serve as president. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1949 and a law degree in 1951. His record of support for higher education and his rapport with Florida alumni and Florida’s business community made him an ideal presidential candidate. As president, he made the case for UF’s membership in the Association of American Universities in 1985. Criser resigned in March 1989 and returned to his law practice. The founding chairman of the UF Board of Trustees, he resigned to become chairperson of the Scripps Florida Funding Corporation Board in 2003.
