John F. and Marjorie J. Alexander Scholarship
GA: support scholarships to first generation college students seeking a degree in the College of Education, based on financial need; donors prefer that scholarships be awarded approximately equally to male and female recipients; students applying after freshman year must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to receive the award.
John F and Marjorie J. Alexander established this scholarship in 2006 to support students seeking a degree in the College of Education. John graduated from UF with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering Sciences in 1978. Marjorie received her master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling the same year as well as earning a master’s in urban and regional planning in 1985 and an EDS (Specialist in Education) in mental health counseling in 1993. John was a professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Florida. John and Marjorie have four children: Grover L. Alexander, John F. Alexander III, Miriam Moore and Sarah Warre
