Kathleen K. Diamond Scholarship for Foreign Language Studies

Fund Purpose
GA; support scholarship awards for students studying advanced modern foreign language in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Dean to students who show marked proficiency in foreign language study and have an interest in a career involving modern foreign language. Kathleen Diamond

Kathleen K. Diamond is a University of Florida Alumna, earning a bachelor’s degree in Romance Languages in 1968 and a master’s degree in Romance Languages in 1969, both in French.

Diamond has been involved professionally and recognized globally with foreign language studies and multilingual communication since 1968. As the founder and CEO of Language Learning Enterprises, Inc. (LLE), her mission was to provide excellence and leadership within the foreign language industry. In 2009, Diamond sold her company to another language service company in the United States and is now a consultant in the language services industry.

Diamond served on the board of directors of the National Association of Women Business Owners; the Board of Directors for the Center for Women’s Business Research, and was a founding Commissioner on the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters. Diamond is active in advocating for the professionalism of language services and participates on the United States Interagency Language Roundtable; is the Membership Secretary of ASTM F43 Language Services and Products, and serves on the Board of Directors of for the Association of Language Companies.

Diamond is a recipient of the Femmes chefs d’entreprises mondiales Lifetime achievement Award for Woman Entrepreneur of the World. She has two children, Alain Jay Diamond and David Michael Diamond and two granddaughters, Cady and Susan.
