Ed Bittar Orthopaedic Education Endowment
Support musculoskeletal resident teaching and research efforts.
This fund was established in 2006 by the Orthopaedics Association, Inc., in honor of Edward S. Bittar, to support musculoskeletal resident teaching and research efforts.
Bittar was born on June 16, 1942. He is a former UF faculty member and was married to Karen L. Ferguson. He was a clinician, surgeon and mentor to orthopaedic residents. Bittar was a member of numerous professional organizations and was a team physician for the Florida Gators, the Florida Marlins, the Montreal Expos and the USA National Baseball Team. He also served as the chief of orthopaedics at the Gainesville Veteran’s Administration Medical Center.
Bittar passed away on May 11, 2004.
