Ernest was the department chairman the day the CFCC opened, and he also started the Criminal Justice Institute in 1959, a new path of study for the college.
Fay was born 1931 and passed away in 2001. Ernest was born in 1926 and passed away in 2017. The Jernigans had three children, Daniel Walter Jernigan, Jerry Earl Jernigan, and Timothy Harris Jernigan. Fay was blessed to receive excellent care by nurses at UF Health Shands and Munroe Regional Medical Center.
