Rachlin Foundation-Harvey Miller Scholarship Fund
The Rachlin Foundation created this fund in 2006 in memory of Rachlin Cohen & Holtz senior partner Harvey Miller. Born in Baltimore, MD, Miller moved to Miami at the age of six and made it his lifelong home. He graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1955 and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida in 1959.
Miller joined the firm of Rachlin Cohen & Holtz in 1961, was a member of their Executive Board and led the firm’s Accounting, Audit and Tax Services Group as well as their New Business Development team. Miller served his clients for more than 44 years, and in 2004, was named an Honorary Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Outside the firm, Miller’s character was legendary. He was devoted to his family, the community and his friends. He was president of both Temple Judea and Hillel at the University of Miami. In addition, he was a member of the AICPA and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a long-term supporter of UF’s Warrington College of Business and Fisher School of Accounting.
Miller and his wife, Phyllis, had three children, two of which are UF graduates. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 6
