Charles M. McCurdy
This fund was established by Judith McCurdy Altenhoff in memory of her husband, Charles M. McCurdy, in 2006 to support perinatal research toward finding a better diagnosis and treatment for infectious diseases, by supplementing the tools, assistance and other requirements of leading edge researchers. This fund also honors the first father/son (1961/1984) graduates of the University of Florida Medical School, forever linking the McCurdy name with the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.
Dr. Charles McCurdy, a Florida native, earned his BS in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1957. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1961, and completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Florida in 1966. He practiced in St. Petersburg, FL and served as residency director at Bayfront Medical Center at the time of his death in 1990. Charles and Judy had four children and nine grandchildren. Pamela K. McCurdy, daughter of Dr. Charles McCurdy, Jr. (class of 1984), will graduate from UF in December 2010 with a degree in Food Science Human Nutrition making her the third generation at this prestigious University.
