Lealand L. Lovering Scholarship Fund
Estate: support scholarships to students in College of Law.
Through the estate of Lealand L. Lovering, this fund was established in 2005. Lovering was born in Revere, MA in 1926 and raised in Wentworth, NH. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944, received his secondary education from the University of New Hampshire and earned his law degree from the University of Florida and admittance to the Florida Bar and the Supreme Court of Florida in 1959.
Lovering moved to Brevard County in 1961, where he worked as an attorney in a private practice, and was the Wuesthoff Hospital corporate counsel from 1961 to 1998. In 1963, he was admitted to the US District Court, Middle District, and in 1969, was admitted to the US Supreme Court. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers from 1971 to 1974, a member of the American Academy of Hospital Attorneys, president of the Circles of Care from 1970 to 1971 and on the Board of Directors for Circles of Care from 1967 to 1972.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Bar Association from 1968 to 1972 and also served as the Vice Chairman for the State Advisory Council of the Division of Community Hospitals and Medical Facilities for the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services from 1971 to 1977.
