Sophie Lemanowicz Ingram Endowment for Eastern European Studies
Support acquisition of library resources for Eastern European studies.
Sophie Lemanowicz Ingram
This fund was established by John E. Ingram in memory of his mother, Sophie Lemanowicz Ingram, in 2005 for the purpose of supporting the acquisition of library resources for Eastern European studies in the George A. Smathers Libraries.
Sophie was the only one of nine children to attend college and instilled the importance of education in her son. John received a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a master’s degree in 1968 in Russian studies. He went on to graduate from Brown University in 1977 with his doctoral degree in Slavic languages.
